One month after the release of Ubuntu 10.10, a new release of Greenie has arrived. What is new? From this point on, Greenie Linux is primarily a DVD, as it is no longer possible to fit it onto a CD. Among the more interesting programs included in the release are Google Chromium, GIMP, Pidgin, VLC, Moovida, Pingus, WINE, OpenTTD and many other applications and games. Greenie Center was re-built, new theme (Deepin) is used. Work from inside VirtualBox is much better, documentation was updated a bit and there is also better support for languages other than Slovak and Czech.

Webconverger 7.0 marks a huge milestone for the Webconverger browser-only operating system, since the Debian base system has upgraded from ‘Lenny’ to Squeeze’. The 6.2 to 7.0 changelog has several highlights such as: upgrade from Mozilla Firefox 3.5.8 to 3.6.12; switch from Splashy boot animation to Plymouth; upgrade from Adobe Flash 10.1 to Flash 10.2; faster booting thanks to Debian Live’s live-boot and live-config. There has been a community discussed privacy change whereby Webconverger 7 reports its version to a ping service.

This release includes many improvements, among which we can find the following: live DVD – install it or just use it as rescue DVD; shipped with Tweetdeck, social networking framework; Blender, 3D modeling software; the latest Thunderbird email client; new Anaconda installer based on Sabayon Linux; desktop-optimized Sabayon Linux kernel 2.6.35; GParted with support for many file systems; Eclipse developer IDE; support for new iPod and iPhone through libmobile and gtkpod; graphics editing tools including Inkspace, GIMP, Shotwell and Dia; Boxee media center and Hulu desktop; VirtuaBox virtual machine software and guest additions….

The SliTaz team is pleased to announce the release of a new ‘Cooking’ CD image featuring over 2,600 packages. It contains Linux kernel 2.6.34 and was rebuilt using a new toolchain with glibc 2.11.2 and GCC 4.5.1. X.Org Server has been fully updated to 1.9.2. The live CD includes Midori, the DeaDBeeF audio player and many applications for daily use. Tazpkg and Tazctrlbox now support gettext translations and more UTF locales have been added. Many bug fixes, updates and improvements can also be found, a lot of work have been done these last 6 month.

Our crew, is happy to announce the immediate availability of E17, Xfce, LXDE, SpinBase/OpenVZ, ServerBase Sabayon 5.4 ‘spins’ built on top of Sabayon ‘SpinBase’ ISO images. Under the ‘experimental spins’ umbrella, the Sabayon developers are going to experiment with new stable releases with different package compositions. The E17 Spin contains the Enlightenment 17 desktop environment. Xfce and LXDE contain the respective desktop environments, while SpinBase/OpenVZ contains an OpenVZ template ready to go.
