Rilis Edubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx

Tim pengembang edubuntu mengumumkan ketersediaan edubuntu 10.04 (Lucid Lynx). Proyek Edubuntu merupakan kumpulan dari orang-orang yang memiliki visi yang sama untuk membuat piranti lunak bebas terbuka yang bisa di pasang (install) dengan mudah. Edubuntu menggunakan Ubuntu sebagai dasar dan menambahkan aplikasi-aplikasi pendidikan yang dapat digunakan oleh anak-anak, pelajar, orang tua, guru baik dirumah maupun disekolah.
Apa yang baru?
- Instalasi sepenuhnya grafikal, memungkinkan instalasi LTSP langsung dari Live CD
- Antarmuka Ubuntu Netbook edition sekarang dipaketkan didalam disk Edubuntu dan bisa diinstall sebagai pilihan setelah instalasi sistem selesai.
- Menu Editor yang baru mengizinkan administrator untuk membuat profil menu custom dan memasangnya untuk digunakan oleh user atau grup dan juga mengekspor menu agar dapat digunakan oleh kolega dan rekan
- artwork di perbaharui untuk menyesuaikan dengan tampilan ubuntu yang baru
- Koleksi piranti lunak diperbaharui termasuk vym (editor mindmap), gbrainy (piranti lunak pelatihan otak), dan juga kolourpaint yang menggantikan gpaint
- Sabayon, manajer profil user gnome diupdate ke versi terbaru upstream yang lebih stabil dan fungsional
- Qimo tersedia di arsip
- LTSP 5.2 juga tersedia, memberikan fungsionalitas untuk menjalankan klien diskless dari LTSP Server
- Disk instalasi sekarang menyertakan seluruh paket bahasa Ubuntu yang berarti lebih dari 130 bahasa
