Tiny Core v2.10 is now posted. Rilis Parted Magic 4.9

Patrick Verner telah mengumumkan rilis Parted Magic 4.9, distribusi Live CD/USB minimalis berbasis Linux dengan berbagai macam koleksi utiliti partisi hard disk dan penyelamatan data :

Parted Magic 4.9. Although this is mostly a bug-fix release, some other major changes were made. People didn’t like that we were using Chrome, so we switched to Chromium. All the old IDE drivers were removed from the kernel and only the new framework is used now. The major difference most people will notice is that devices that used to be labeled /dev/hd* will now be /dev/sd* and all CDROMs will be /dev/sr*. Three new programs were added – mhdd, elinks, and zsync. Some changes were made to the kernel configuration and initramfs so Virtio hard disks could be used to boot Parted Magic. The fstab daemon was also fixed to support Virtio hard disks. Many other small fixes were made to the network scripts and the system in general.

Rilis Lubuntu 10.04 Beta 1, Ubuntu rasa LXDE

Julien Lavergne telah mengumumkan ketersediaan rilis beta pertama Lubuntu 10.04, sebuah varian non-resmi Ubuntu yang menawarkan desktop environment ringan LXDE sebagai desktop default :

Lubuntu ‘Lucid Lynx’ beta 1 released. New stuff since alpha 3: new logo; addition to the seed – gnome-disk-utility and simple-scan. Specific Lubuntu changes: new PCMan File Manager 2 and libfm; Lubuntu artwork with new logo; LXSession 0.4.3; LXTerminal 0.1.7; auto-start GNOME authentication (for polkit support); fix for blurry shut-down icon from elementary icons; don’t auto-start print applet. Known bug: if you test on a USB, the first screen will freeze for a moment when you click on ‘Try Lubuntu’ – just wait, it will continue as normal. If you want to create a bootable USB system, please use the USB Creator directly on Ubuntu.

Rilis CrunchBang Linux 10 Alpha 1

Philip Newborough mengumumkan ketersediaan rilis alpha pertama CrunchBang Linux 10. Distribusi ringan yang menyajikan desktop Openbox dan XFCE. CrunchBang saat ini berbasis Debian GNU/Linux dan bukan Ubuntu.

The first alpha release of CrunchBang 10 is now available. Code-named ‘Statler’, this release is, for the first time, built using Debian sources. The alpha 1 is available to download in two main flavours, those being Openbox and Xfce. Both the Openbox and Xfce editions currently feature the same line-up of applications and the new Xfce edition has had its session set-up to mimic that of previous CrunchBang Openbox sessions.

Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx Beta1 Siap Diunduh Setelah kemarin rilis lucid lynx Beta1 sempat diundur sehari, kemarin tim pengembang Ubuntu merilis Ubuntu Lucid Lynx Beta1. Themes baru “Light” yang akan menggantikan Themes Human yang sudah digunakan oleh ubuntu selama 6 tahun terakhir sudah mulai disertakan (alpha-3 masih menggunakan themes human). Selamat mencoba. selamat mencari kutu :)

Rilis SystemRescueCd 1.5.0

SystemRescueCd 1.5.0 telah dirilis, SystemRescueCD merupakan distribusi Live CD berbasis Gentoo dengan koleksi utility penyelamatan data dan pemartisi disk. Beberapa perbaikan dan perubahan yang dilakukan di rilis ini :

  • initramfs – udevd digunakan untuk meload modul kernel yang berhubungan dengan hardware
  • initramfs – bootscript /init ditulis ulang
  • initramfs – penambahan firmware yang dibutuhkan oleh Ethernet dan divais kontroller disk
  • initramfs – Bisa memboot system dengan SELinux aktif menggunakan root=/dev/xxx
  • initramfs – Modul kernel di gzip untuk menghemat memory yang digunakan oleh initramfs
  • initramfs – Pesan Error ketika melakukan chrooting ke system 64-bit dari kernel 32-bit
  • Kernel standard (resucecd dan rescue64) telah diupgrade ke kernel 2.6.32.10
  • util-linux diupdate ke 2.17.1 (penambahan dukungan untuk hard drive dengan ukuran block 4K
  • Parted di update ke versi 2.2
  • GParted di update ke versi 0.5.2
  • NTFS-3G di update ke versi 2010.3.6

MOPSLinux 7.0 Memasuki Release Candidate 1

Setelah merilis empat Beta, Release Candidate pertama distro MOPSLinux 7.0, sebuah distribusi Linux berbasis Slackware Linux dengan menggunakan bahasa Rusia, tersedia untuk diunduh dan dites. Dibandingkan dengan rilis beta ada beberapa perubahan penting pada rilis RC1 ini, diantaranya :

  • beberapa paket telah dibuild ulang untuk menambahkan dukungan Pluggable Authentication Modules(PAM)
  • Desktop LXDE telah ditambahkan pada sistem dasar
  • Error di mpkg berkait dengan penanganan dependensi telah diselesaikan
  • Penambahan NetworkManager
  • Penambahan Plymount
  • KDE diupgrade ke versi 4.4.1

Rilis Parsix GNU/Linux 3.5 Test 1

Alan Baghumian merilis build development pertama Parsix GNU/Linux 3.5, distribusi desktop dan live DVD berbasis Debian testing :

The first set of Parsix 3.5 ‘Frankie’ testing ISO images are out. Although this is the first testing ISO, the system stability is very good and there shouldn’t be any strange errors or problems. This version is synchronized with Debian testing repositories as of March 7, 2010, bringing tons of updated packages. These ISO images are compiled using Squashfs 4.0 with LZMA compression and, for the first time, we are using GRUB 2 as the default bootloader. The kernel build system has been modified and improved vastly to produce better kernel packages. Our brand new 2.6.32.9 kernel with improved configuration is patched using the latest TuxOnIce and Con Kolivas’s BFS performance patches.

Rilis SimplyMEPIS 8.5 RC3

Warren Woodford mengumumkan kandidat rilis ketiga SimplyMEPIS 8.5 siap untuk diunduh dan dites :

MEPIS has released SimplyMEPIS 8.5.00, RC3 of MEPIS 8.5, now available from MEPIS and public mirrors. We’ve updated the kernel to 2.6.32.10. The release notes from the Linux kernel team indicated that they have been hard at work making improvements. We have changed the live media to use isolinux. This gave us the opportunity to add a hardware exploration tool to the boot options. Also we’ve expended the number of languages that can be selected at live boot. Soon we expect to take advantage of this to build a larger international Live media release, that will have appropriate KDE localizations built-in. There have been a number of improvements to the MEPIS Assistants.
